John Lennon once had ‘loud, raucous sex’ with a woman at a party and his wife Yoko Ono overheard everything, according to a new memoir.
The incident was described by the rock-star couple’s close friend Elliot Mint in his new memoir, We All Shine On: John, Yoko, and Me, which was released on Tuesday.
‘Throughout it all, Yoko sat on the sofa, in stunned, mortified silence, as other guests began awkwardly getting up to leave — until they realized that their coats were in the bedroom where John was having sex,’ the media consultant, 79, wrote.
‘He was placing [his wife] in the most embarrassing position that you could ever place a woman in — having a romp in the hay in another room with thin walls while your wife was attending a small party and could hear everything,’ Mintz told People on Tuesday, while promoting the book.
‘Yoko is a very stoic woman, but it would have severe consequences,’ he added of the Japanese artist, 91.

Mintz alleges that the incident occurred at a New York City party where they were watching the 1972 presidential election results between Richard Nixon and George McGovern.
The late Beatles legend reportedly hooked up with the mystery woman after getting drunk and upset over Nixon’s potential victory.
Mintz said that one of the consequences from Yoko was that Lennon had to sleep on the couch that night.
She later allegedly told Mintz that she could forgive Lennon for his infidelity, but she wasn’t sure if she would be able to ‘ever forget.’
He also claimed she said she didn’t know ‘if it will ever be the same.’
‘The reality is, as I would learn over the years in the bad behavior department, John would say to me, “Ellie,” which is what he called me, “I’m not always the ‘Imagine’ guy,”‘ Mintz told People.
It was not the first time Lennon would have extramarital relations.
He also had an affair with their assistant, May Pang, for about 18 months.

In her 2023 documentary, The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, Pang claimed that at first Ono gave them her blessing to get together, but she did not realize the hookup would lead to a longer affair.
‘Yoko walked into my office and said, “John and I are not getting along. I want you to go out with him,”‘ she said.
‘[Yoko] did not realize it was going to turn into such a big love affair. She thought it would be two weeks, gone, goodbye.’
Ono and Lennon’s relationship has been famously blamed for breaking up The Beatles, although both parties have denied that was the case.

‘John kept a journal where each day he would write what his weight was.’
‘Yoko and John had endless questions about this subject. They thought that everybody in Hollywood was slim and trim and that there were magic diet pills and insisted I get that for them.’
