Michael McIntyre was forced to apologise to recently-split couple, Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott, who featured on BBC’s Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on Saturday.
The segment of the show the former reality stars were featuring in usually sees the comedian breaking into a celebrity’s bedroom as they sleep at night and bombarding them with bizarre quiz questions. However, McIntyre was mortified in the latest episode as he got to the couple’s door via a key Zara’s brother had left outside – only to find the door to the couple’s bedroom was locked.
After hesitating for a few moments, the 48-year-old decided to knock at the door instead, understandably leaving the couple terrified.
Eventually, McDermott opened the door cautiously, at which point McIntyre raced into the bedroom with the camera crew, leaving the frightened duo confused.
Once they realised what was happening, the couple began to calm down, admitting they thought they were being “burgled”.
“You poor things I’m so sorry,” the presenter replied, confessing: “We can only imagine how terrifying that was. I’m so, so sorry.”

To make matters more uncomfortable, the Made in Chelsea stars have broken up since the clip was filmed.
Before showing the chaotic scene, he told viewers on The Graham Norton show the previous night: “We have a Midnight Gameshow tomorrow night with Sam Thompson and his girlfriend, possibly at the time, Zara.”
He added: “They were together when I was in their bedroom!”
McDermott and Thompson were together for five years before calling it quits recently, with reports circulating at the start of 2025 that the pair had gone their separate ways.

The split came after the pair spent both Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve separately, with former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner Thompson partying with ex-Made In Chelsea co-stars at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens, while McDermott remained at home with her cats.
The couple were last seen together celebrating McDermott’s birthday in December, where Thompson dedicated an Instagram post to his girlfriend, calling her his “soulmate” and “best friend.”
However, the 32-year-old was soon afterwards seen outside the strip club Stringfellows at 4am with The Only Way Is Essex’s Pete Wicks, less than a week after celebrating McDermott’s birthday.
A source close to the couple told MailOnline: “Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.”
“But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025,” the source added.
The insider emphasised there had been “no scandal or fallout between them,” explaining it was simply “the result of a difficult year, where they both had to spend a lot of time focused on their own projects”.

Thompson has seen his workload double since winning I’m A Celebrity, landing a new presenting role on ITV’s This Morning alongside his work in Australia.
Last week, Thompson broke his silence on the break up. Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast with friend Wicks, Thompson explained: “It was tough. It’s been a tough month. A real tough month.”
The revelation marks Thompson’s first public comments since news of the couple’s separation emerged.
