Six men and one woman have been arrested as part of an investigation into historical child sex offences in Bradford.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in the Thorpe Edge area of the city in the late 1970s and involve a female who was 14 at the time.

The suspects, arrested at properties in Bradford, Bolton, Bridlington and Stoke-on-Trent, were held on suspicion of rape and conspiracy to rape, West Yorkshire Police said.

A spokesperson for the force said those arrested – aged between 61 and 70 – had all been interviewed and released on conditional bail.

Det Ch Insp Vicky Greenbank, said: “This operation forms part of our ongoing commitment to investigate both current and non-recent sexual offences against children.

“We would urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, no matter where or when it took place, to report it to the police. You will be listened to, and you will be believed.”
