Meghan Markle has suffered a blow as Martha Stewart questioned her “authenticity” in a new statement.
The Duchess of Sussex has been compared to both Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow as she embraces her new role as a lifestyle expert.
Speaking about the comparisons earlier this year, Meghan said: “Those are incredibly successful businesswomen, so I don’t take that lightly.
“That means a lot if there’s any comparison made in that regard.”

Meghan Markle suffers blow as Martha Stewart questions her ‘authenticity’ in new statement
However, Stewart appeared less than complimentary about the Duchess of Sussex, telling Yahoo Lifestyle Australia: “Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about.
“Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”
Stewart was also asked about Paltrow, the former wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
The 83-year-old explained: “Gwyneth has been very successful; she created quite an interesting body of businesses.
“She’s admired. She won an Oscar for heaven’s sake as an actress! She’s pretty powerful.”
This was Stewart’s second time speaking about Meghan, having been asked about the Duchess’s lifestyle show on Netflix, With Love, Meghan, back in April.
At the time, Stewart said: “I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll watch an episode and see how she does. I’m curious.”
The second series of With Love, Meghan is set to premiere this autumn.

Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow previously shut down feud rumours in surprise video
Paltrow has said she would love to feature on the programme.
Speaking about Meghan earlier this year, Paltrow said: “When there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them.
“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think there’s always more than enough to go around.
“Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”
