Meghan Markle has been hailed as “a real champion of women” by author Jessica Urlichs, who shared her reaction to the Duchess of Sussex promoting her book.

Ms Urlichs told GB News that it was “such an honour” to have her work recognised by Meghan, who posted an Instagram story of her reading: “They Bloom Because of You: On the Infinite Love, Growth and Magic of Motherhood Book by Jessica Urlichs.”

Sharing her reaction with the People’s Channel, she said: “[I am] incredibly pleased. She is a real champion of women, and it felt like a very genuine share by her.

“I will be forever grateful for that.”

Ms Urlichs posted a video of her showing the duchess reading her book to her personal social media, which has received over 50,000 likes.

Meghan left a comment under the post, saying: “My mom friend, Christina, shared it with me. My current bedside book. From one mama to another – thank you.”

Following the duchess’s sharing of the book, Ms Urlichs told GB News: “I actually have all my notifications turned off, but I noticed my DMs (direct messages) were flying in when I went into Instagram.

“I was in the dining room while my husband was on a Zoom meeting, so I had to really contain my excitement.”

The author said she had to ‘contain her excitement’

Ms Urlichs’ book, which is one of the bestsellers on Amazon, is described as “a new collection of beautifully observed poems about the ever-evolving journey of motherhood – the hard, the magic, and the fleeting”.

It continues: “A mother is born the moment her children are, growing and blossoming alongside them.

“They Bloom Because of You is a celebration of that profound journey – a testament to the significance of mothering, and the quiet, extraordinary beauty of watching our children unfurl into who they are meant to be.”

The author said she “hopes that the book can now reach more mothers who feel held and supported by those poems”.

The author’s reaction comes as Meghan’s superfans announced an “exciting” update ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Australia trip next month.

The duchess will host a luxury wellness event called “Her Best Life” in Sydney in April, with attendees paying approximately $3,000 (£1,557), depending on their access tier.

Several fans of the duchess have taken to social media to outline their excitement at being selected to meet the 44-year-old.

One wrote on X: “So very excited to be selected to attend Meghans retreat weekend in Sydney. I am still pinching myself.

A third commented: “Drumroll please! I’m so excited to share that I got a ticket to the Girls’ Weekend with Meghan!!!

“Yes, I’ll be inside and will make sure to bring you updates. AND I went VIP so our table gets a photo with Meghan. Let’s go!”
