Meghan Markle has received a bitter blow after American journalist Megyn Kelly supported Martha Stewart on her claims about the Duchess of Sussex.
Ms Stewart had claimed earlier this month Meghan had been sharing details of her recent trip to visit the King at his Highgrove estate with fellow guests at the gathering.
Prince Harry is said to have agreed with his father he would not speak about the trip in public nor share any photos.
However, a source close to the duchess firmly pushed back on the claim, arguing Ms Stewart “must have been confused” as the two women were not seated near each other during the evening.
Now, Mrs Kelly has come out in support of Ms Stewart on a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show.
“Martha doesn’t spew s***,” she claimed. “She gives it straight.”
And responding to Meghan’s claims Ms Stewart must have been “confused,” Mrs Kelly insisted: “She’s as sharp as a tack”.
Speaking to People magazine earlier in the month, Ms Stewart described the encounter in some detail: “I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace.”

She added: “I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple of words, but I know she was talking about it.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s camp offered a markedly different version of events.
An insider told the Mirror Meghan had simply been asked by another guest about her European holiday and responded briefly it had been pleasant.

“Meghan was asked by someone else about her European vacation and said it was nice, and that was the extent of it. I think she must have been confused,” the source said.
Despite the public disagreement, the source was keen to stress the duchess still considers herself an admirer of Ms Stewart.
The veteran lifestyle mogul did, however, also weigh in on Meghan’s broader move into the lifestyle and homemaking arena following the launch of her cooking programme, With Love, Meghan.
“If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show,” she remarked. “It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
In a previous interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, Ms Stewart also emphasised the importance of expertise.
“Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important,” she said, while adding that she did not object to the notion of successors.
