Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be set to be handed a key lifeline by their “secret weapon” ally as the end of their lucrative Netflix deal is thought to be close.
Last week, it was reported that the US streaming giant would not be considering extending their major deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Harry and Meghan inked the deal with Netflix through their production company Archewell in 2020, after stepping down as working royals and moving to the US.
Their partnership produced the company’s biggest documentary debut, but other offerings failed to impress or generate sufficient audience interest.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix deal may be saved by a ‘secret weapon’ ally at the company
As such, it was reported Netflix had decided it would not enter discussions with the Sussexes over extending their deal.
However, it has now been suggested Netflix’s boss Ted Sarandos remains an ally of Harry and Meghan and may rule in their favour.
The streaming giant’s co-CEO is said to be the couple’s “secret weapon” in securing further projects with Netflix.
“Ted Sarandos remains a huge fan, of Meghan’s in particular, and his support is a powerful secret weapon,” reporter Alison Boshoff wrote.

The news could be a particular boost to Meghan as she is reportedly keen on producing a third series of her lifestyle programme, With Love, Meghan.
A second series is set to debut on the streaming platform later this year.
Its first outing, released in March, failed to secure a place amongst Netflix’s 300 most-watched shows for the first half of 2025.
Despite this, Boshoff reported: “There will be a third series of the Duchess’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, if she wants to make one. And I hear she does.”

The Sussexes are believed to be keen on producing more projects with Netflix
Regardless of the future of their direct production deal, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also believed to be signing a “first look” deal of further independent projects with Netflix.
Prince Harry is also believed to be benefiting from this deal, apparently plotting “to make more documentary shows for Netflix, most likely in the areas of mental health and the environment”.
However, it is not all plain sailing for the Sussexes as other projects currently being worked on by Archewell may be shelved.
The fate of their romantic comedy film adaptation of the book, Meet Me At The Lake, and a new interpretation of Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations appears to be in limbo.

Meghan’s lifestyle show struggled with disappointing viewership with its first series
This month, it was revealed Meghan Markle’s lifestyle programme had attracted just 5.3 million views, placing it at number 383 on the streaming platform’s rankings.
The programme sits alongside decade-old content, matching viewing figures for the 2014 second series of Peaky Blinders and the fourth series of Suits from 2011, the legal drama that originally featured Meghan.
It quickly led to reports of the impending end of the Sussexes’ Netflix deal and the speculation that they may seek partnerships with other streamers.
“The end of the current Netflix contract between Meghan and Harry means that they are now open to offers from other streamers they haven’t worked with, like Amazon Prime, so potentially they may want to court those other streamers,” Nick Ede told Hello.
