During a bracelet-making workshop, Meghan disclosed her daughter Princess Lilibet had been enjoying a new hobby.

When one youngster told the duchess she liked doing gymnastics, Meghan replied: “Oh yeah. Our daughter is doing that too right now. She loves it.”

Later, she gave the young girls some advice on building confidence.

“We have to remember to talk to ourselves like we talk to our best friends,” she said. “It’s really important to be just as kind to yourself.”

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said Nottingham is “a special place” for them both, as it is where they made their first joint appearance after announcing their engagement in 2017.

The pair are attending these events not as working royals, but as public figures and supporters of the projects they’re visiting.

The Royal Household has made it clear they view them as private citizens.

Despite that, Thursday’s schedule has a distinctly royal feel to it.

The first stop on their visit to Nottingham is the Community Recording Studio, a charity which Prince Harry has been supporting since 2013.

Its CEO Trevor Rose told the they only found out about the trip a few weeks ago, and could not believe it.

“It’s exciting times. Completely random, phoned, mentioned a idea, said they’d like to come down,” he said.
