Marks & Spencer fans are in for a treat this weekend as the retailer launches a new globally-inspired BBQ range, just in time for the Bank Holiday.

This comes the retailer expects to shift more than 1.5 million packs of ‘Picky Bits’ and dips over the long weekend – that works out at roughly 600 packs every minute, or 10 every second.

M&S cocktail tinnies – which celebrate their 40th anniversary this year – are also sure to be a hit this Bank Holiday, with the supermarket forecast to sell 350,000 cans. Rosé lovers are getting in on the action too, with pink wine sales predicted to jump 25 per cent compared to last week.

With the sunshine beckoning, M&S has also unveiled a new adventurous BBQ collection, which takes inspiration from Indian, Asian, Eastern Mediterranean and American flavours.

Mediterranean-inspired options include Greek Style Chicken Thighs and Chilli Halloumi Burgers, while kebab fans can try the Collection British Chicken Shish or Cypriot Halloumi & Roasted Red Pepper skewers.

For those who love a classic hot dog, the new Long Dogs measure an impressive 23cm and come in four flavours.

Product developer for the new Grill ranges at M&S Food, Florence Horsey, said: “With those long, light evenings finally here and 9pm sunsets signalling the start of summer, there’s no better time to get grilling.

“We’ve made hosting easier than ever with our 3 for £12 offer across selected BBQ favourites, so customers can put together a delicious, family-sized feast while making great savings.

“And because we know the British weather doesn’t always play ball, everything in our range is designed to work just as brilliantly indoors as it does on the barbecue.

“Whether you’re firing it up for the first time this season or going all out for a Bank Holiday spread, we’re encouraging everyone to get adventurous with global flavours and make this weekend the most delicious one yet whatever summer brings.”

More than a third of shoppers now enjoy high or very high levels of heat, so the collection includes plenty of spicy options.
