Watch as Joanne, a Manchester local who today heckled David Lammy at a vigil in the city, spoke about her fury on GB News.

GB News’s National Reporter Will Godley spoke to locals in Crumpsall, Manchester, after two died were killed in the attack on the local synagogue.

The Deputy Prime Minister was among the speakers at a vigil today, but his words were overshadowed by the sheer vitriol directed towards him by crowd members.

Joanne was one who joined in with the shouting, and she explained her fury on GB News.

Joanne called on David Lammy and Keir Starmer to prevent pro-Palestine marches from taking place

“These marches have been going on for two years. Every time they go into Manchester, there’s marches oozing hatred. You’ve got people with masks on, it’s very scary to walk around Manchester”, she said.

“He said he wanted to help us. I thought, ‘okay, help us stop the marches’, I got rather passionate. Stopping the marches will stop spreading the hate and people won’t go into synagogues killing people.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“I’ve been called a baby killer and I have been told to go home, when I was actually born just up the road. I am home.”

Asked about pro-Palestine demonstrations continuing to take place, she said Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer should step in.

“They will happen. There was one last night on the day of this attack, why was it not stopped?”, she asked.

“I have tried signing petitions and emails, they don’t care. Stop the marches and it will stop spreading hate.

“What more do they want us to do? Do they want more of us killed? Just stop it.”

Another local spoke about her husband who is also a local rabbi, she told Will: “You try and put a brave face on, but it shouldn’t be like this. We should be able to live relaxed, peaceful lives.

“Jewish people make up less than one per cent of the population and we contribute greatly.

“We have police at the gates of the schools of our children. It shouldn’t be like this.”

Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, both died and three others remain in hospital with serious injuries following the attack, which took place on Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson said the only shots fired outside the synagogue were by armed officers as Al-Shamie did not have a firearm.

In a statement released on Friday, Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Rabbi Daniel Walker, its president Hilary Foxler and chairman of trustees Alan Levy, described the terror attack as a “desecration”.

The trio went on to say the incident was “an episode that has changed us all forever”.

In a tribute to those who died, their statement added: “These were not simply members of our synagogue – they were our friends, our family – and their absence leaves a void that can never be filled.”

It is understood that police are still no closer to providing a conclusive motive for the attack.
