A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead alongside a seriously injured child in County Tyrone on Saturday morning.

A male has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and remains in custody.

The incident took place in Lisnahull Road, Dungannon.

The child was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

Police are currently at the scene and have said the public should avoid the area while enquiries continue.

Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said they received a 999 call at 11:08 BST on Saturday, following reports of the incident.

They then dispatched a helicopter crew, three emergency crews, one advanced care paramedic, two ambulance officers and one HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) crew to the scene.
