The family of a man who was killed in a “violent and shocking” attack at a karaoke bar have said their “hearts are broken”.

Shane Cullen, 31, died at Blues bar in Ashton-under-Lyne at about 02:40 BST on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said.

He was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

In a tribute, Cullen’s mother said: “Shane was a big, gentle giant who wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

“He was a good dad, son and brother. He will be sadly missed,” she said.

“All our hearts are broken and can never be fixed.

“Shane would have a smile to light up the room.”

Their family was “broken” and could “never be put back together”, his mother added.
