A man has died and another is missing after a collision involving a private rigid-hulled inflatable boat.

The incident, which was reported to police just before 8pm on Thursday, occurred near Tipner, a residential district of Portsmouth.

Police said his family have been informed and will be supported by officers.

Police confirmed that another man is unaccounted for.

A third man in his 50s from West Sussex was taken to hospital.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

He has since been discharged.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Enquiries are ongoing to locate a third person, a man in his 60s from Havant, who is still outstanding.”

“We are liaising with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) during the early stages of an investigation to establish what has happened.”
