A man has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after getting trapped climbing into the space between a double tram in Manchester city centre.
The incident happened at the Market Street Metrolink tram stop at about 09:20 BST, Greater Manchester Police said.
The man, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment.
A cordon was placed around the busy city centre station, close to the city’s Arndale Centre shopping complex, while police carried out investigations.
Transport for Greater Manchester said: “Staff supported emergency services while the stop was cordoned off and the scene has now been cleared.
“Service changes remain in place across Metrolink and customers are advised to check the latest travel advice before making journeys by tram.”
The incident meant tram services on the Bury Line were terminating at Manchester Victoria only.
Trams on the Ashton Line were ending at Piccadilly, while there was no service between Piccadilly and Victoria.
