Drivers are being warned of several crucial vehicle recalls that have been unveiled in recent weeks, which could see cars at risk of being involved in accidents or even catching fire.
Some of the most popular brands in the world, like BMW and Stellantis, have been forced to issue recall notices relating to serious incidents with hundreds of thousands of vehicles.
GB News has rounded up the most important car recalls of the past week that motorists need to know about.
BMW
Documents registered with the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that 196,000 vehicles would be recalled.
The German brand warned that the engine starter relay could corrode, leading to overheating and short circuits. In extreme instances, this could cause a fire.
Popular models, including the Toyota Supra and the 2022 BMW 230i vehicles, are included in the recall, with dealers replacing the engine starter for free.

Through its American subsidiary, Stellantis will be recalling 123,396 vehicles, including the 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
Documents state: “The quarter trim on the driver and passenger windows may not have been properly secured, which can allow it to detach.”
The NHTSA warns that the detached pieces can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. A remedy is still under development.

Almost 40,000 Kia models are being recalled by the NHTSA over potential fire hazards stemming from defective heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
It warned that the HVAC blower motor wiring harness could be inadequate in certain vehicles, creating a fire risk and prompting the recall.
The overheating issue can be found in certain Sorento LX crossovers from model years 2021 through 2023.

The Swedish automaker announced that it was recalling 27,816 Polestar 2 models in response to rearview camera issues.
The recall stated that the rearview camera image in certain vehicles may not display when the car is placed in reverse, increasing the possibility of an accident.
Polestar has gained popularity in recent years for its impressive electric vehicle technology and its bold decision to remove the rear windscreen in favour of high-definition cameras.
