Sam Battle has sparked backlash after an unearthed interview clip resurfaced following the United Kingdom’s disastrous Eurovision result.
The electronic artist, who performs under the stage name LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER, represented the UK at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with his controversial entry Eins, Zwei, Drei.
However, after Britain finished rock bottom in Saturday’s grand final, social media users began resharing an awkward exchange between Mr Battle and a Dutch journalist.
During the interview, the presenter asked the musician: “What’s the name of your song again?”

The interviewer then quipped: “But you say dry,” appearing to poke fun at the way the British singer pronounced the German word “Drei”.
Responding to the remark, Mr Battle said: “Unfortunately, I’m a British person, and we are renowned for not being very intelligent, and we’re pretty bad at pronouncing other people’s languages.
“And I apologise. It’s just the way we are. Don’t hate me for that.”

The 37-year-old then insisted he could pronounce the word correctly using a rolled German “R” sound before demonstrating it himself.
The interviewer later asked whether he could count higher in German, prompting Mr Battle to count up to 10 before joking: “I’ll stop there!”
The clip has since gone viral on X, where users fiercely debated both the journalist’s conduct and Mr Battle’s comments about Britain.
Some social media users rushed to defend the performer and accused the interviewer of attempting to embarrass him.
One person wrote: “Absolutely disgusting, trying to shame and embarrass him. What a lovely lad who handled himself well under such duress and ridicule! Shame on the interviewer. Very lazy reporting.”
Another fumed: “What a d***.”
A third praised the singer directly, writing: “Guy’s a legend f*** Eurovision.”
Others also rallied around the musician following the UK’s humiliating Eurovision result.
“Sam is the man. Shame on the reporter for kicking a man while he is down,” one supporter posted.
Another added: “He’s such a grown up kid. I love the guy.”
However, not everyone was sympathetic, with several viewers criticising Mr Battle for his remarks about British people.
One user blasted: “‘It’s not my fault, we are all stupid’ is a terrible apology.”
Another wrote: “This t**t does not represent regular Brits!”
A third added: “This man was sent to represent our nation….”
Elsewhere, another critic fumed: “Speak for yourself Sam Battle. I speak English and Dutch. Sam Battle is not the voice of Britain.”
The row comes after the BBC unveiled Eins, Zwei, Drei as the UK’s Eurovision entry earlier this year, with the song dividing opinion for its repeated use of German lyrics despite representing the United Kingdom.
The synth-heavy track also appeared to criticise aspects of British culture, with lyrics including: “Counting in English doesn’t cut the mustard. So sick of munching roly-poly with custard.”
Mr Battle previously defended the unusual entry, saying he hoped audiences would “dance, shout, sing along, and just embrace the absurd jubilation” of the song.
Despite the energetic performance, LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER finished bottom of the Eurovision leaderboard on Saturday night after receiving just one jury point and no public votes from viewers across Europe.
Following the result, Mr Battle remained upbeat and told fans on Instagram he would continue “trying your hardest regardless of the f******n’ outcome”.
