England goalkeeper Khiara Keating has received a £440 penalty after being convicted of operating a vehicle without valid road tax.
The 21-year-old footballer was pulled over by officers in Bury last December whilst driving her Volkswagen Polo.
Police discovered the vehicle’s tax had lapsed four months before the incident, according to The Sun.
The Manchester City player didn’t attend her court hearing, resulting in the matter being decided without her present.

Beyond the primary fine, Keating must also settle £79.17 in outstanding tax payments and contribute £20 towards legal expenses.
Wednesday’s court proceedings took place merely 24 hours following England’s triumphant Euro 2025 celebrations in London.
The timing of the legal proceedings created a stark juxtaposition with the national celebrations. Whilst the Lionesses basked in their European Championship glory on Wednesday, their reserve goalkeeper faced magistrates the following morning.

The contrast between the jubilant scenes on The Mall and the courtroom drama could hardly have been more pronounced.
Thousands had gathered to honour the team’s penalty shootout triumph over Spain, which came after a 1-1 draw in Switzerland.
This was not Keating’s first encounter with law enforcement. Earlier this year, she faced allegations of possessing nitrous oxide, though prosecutors ultimately withdrew these charges in June and she always maintained her innocence.

Following the dismissal, Keating expressed her relief to the BBC: “I’m relieved the charges have been dropped. As I’ve always said, I did nothing wrong.
“It’s been a difficult time, but I’ve always known the truth. Now I’m just looking forward to focusing fully on the Euros and spending time with my family.”
During the tournament, Keating served as backup to first-choice keeper Hannah Hampton.
The victory parade on Wednesday saw 65,000 supporters line The Mall to celebrate the team’s second consecutive European Championship, which came three years after the Lionesses beat Germany to win Euro 2022.
Princess Beatrice joined the crowds as the squad travelled on buses displaying “2022 and 2025 European Champions”.
Captain Leah Williamson became emotional during the festivities, telling supporters: “I’ve been crying all the way down the Mall. It’s unbelievable. It’s one of the best things we’ve ever been a part of.”
