For chocolate lovers who simply can’t wait until Christmas, Lidl has created the perfect solution.
The supermarket chain has unveiled a special Advent calendar featuring just one door, designed specifically for those who devour all their festive chocolate on December 1.
The innovative calendar contains a single 100g milk chocolate bar that’s been divided into 24 squares, representing each day leading up to Christmas.
This means that rather than pretending to exercise restraint with traditional daily doors, “chocolate fiends” can embrace their cravings guilt-free.
Answering “sweet-toothed shoppers’ prayers”, 1,000 of these limited-edition calendars are being given away for free through an online competition, with chocoholics having until 6pm tomorrow to enter. They can do this at lidlday1adventcalendar.co.uk.
The quirky move comes after Lidl researchers found that more than half of Britons admit they eat multiple days’ worth of Advent calendar chocolate at once.
Young people are particularly prone to this festive indulgence, with 72 per cent of under-30s confessing they find it impossible to resist the temptation.

The phenomenon has become so widespread that videos of people eating entire Advent calendars on December 1 regularly go viral online.
One such video has attracted more than 510,000 views, highlighting just how common this chocolate-chomping behaviour has become.
The calendar itself features “decadently” smooth milk chocolate arranged in a festive design.
To enter the competition, Britons must provide their name, delivery address, phone number, and email address through the website.

Lidl describes its creation as “the Advent calendar created for those rule-breakers who can’t resist tearing through all doors in one go”.
The retailer also couldn’t resist a festive pun, calling it “the most one-door-full time of the year” and promising customers can “take full advent-age” of their chocolate cravings.
Lidl is commemorating the festive season with a second tasty freebie promising a pinch of “festive magic”.
To celebrate its 1,000th store opening in East Grinstead, Sussex, the supermarket is giving away 1,000 free gingerbread store kits.
The festive kits are packed with everything needed to create the mini Lidl replica, including handmade gingerbread panels and smooth icing to construct the store.
The kit also comes with candy cane bollards to place outside, edible Lidl billboards to display, and charming chocolate decorations to complete the scene, all inspired by the actual East Grinstead store design.
