Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings says inconsistency is to blame for their results in this year’s T20 Blast.

With two games to play in the group stages, Lancashire are third in the North Group after a dramatic tie with Derbyshire on Monday evening.

But their hopes of reaching the knockout stages for a ninth straight season are hanging by a thread, having won only four of their 10 matches.

“It’s been inconsistent at best,” Jennings told Radio Lancashire of his side’s form.

“When you look at all three phases – bat, ball and field – I don’t think we’ve been at our best.

“We haven’t been able to put together 240 balls of good, competitive cricket consistently.

“We haven’t quite been able to nail the entire game and close it out in a clinical old-school Lancashire fashion.”

Four of Lancashire’s last five games in the competition have gone down to the last ball, but they have only won one of those.

In the tie with Derbyshire, Matty Hurst was bowled off the final delivery when any run would have secured victory, while against Notts Outlaws on Friday, they were 149-3 in the 16th over chasing 182 and ended up losing by one run.

Now with a Roses clash against Yorkshire on Friday and then Durham to finish on Sunday, both at Emirates Old Trafford, the Red Rose are in must-win territory.

“We are still in with a chance,” said Jennings. “We do need results to go our way now but we need to make sure the next two games are wins and we get the best third place.”
