Lady Louise Windsor will take on a part-time role at the Royal Windsor Horse Show next week, balancing work commitments alongside her final year of studies at the University of St Andrews, sources have claimed.

King Charles’s niece, 22, will reportedly assist at the prestigious equestrian event, which takes place from May 14 to 17 in the Windsor Castle grounds.

Currently completing a degree in English, Lady Louise has made this annual commitment a regular fixture in her calendar.

With St Andrews’ examination period concluding on May 25, it remains unclear whether she will have finished her academic obligations before taking up her duties at the show.

Those familiar with the young royal have spoken highly of her character and dedication.

A source described Lady Louise as “very grounded and down-to-earth,” telling Hello!: “You wouldn’t know she was a royal. It was her idea to ask for a part-time job.”

The insider revealed that she had previously sought out work in the show’s offices during university holidays, where she proved herself “very polite and helpful” while carrying out administrative duties such as sealing envelopes.

“She’s very hard-working,” the source noted, emphasising that the decision to seek employment was entirely her own initiative rather than something arranged on her behalf.

The source attributed her grounded nature to the upbringing provided by her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

“Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward provided Lady Louise and her brother James with as normal an upbringing as possible, and this is clearly reflected in her work ethic,” they explained.

Beyond her administrative contributions, Lady Louise is a familiar presence at the Royal Windsor Horse Show for another reason.

She frequently participates in carriage driving at the event, a pursuit she took up in honour of her late grandfather, Prince Philip, who was a passionate advocate of the sport.

During her time at St Andrews, Lady Louise has immersed herself in activities beyond her academically demanding English degree, which requires AAA at A-level for entry. She has enrolled as a cadet with the university’s Officers’ Training Corps, suggesting a possible future direction.

Her LinkedIn profile, which has since been taken down, indicated an interest in pursuing a career in the military, diplomacy, or law following graduation.

Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth, has speculated she could follow a military path, noting: “She’d be one of the first members of the royal family – of the younger generation – to go down the military route.”

Lady Louise joins a tradition of royals undertaking part-time work before assuming official duties, including the Princess of Wales, who previously worked as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw.
