Kristin Cavallari reveals she went on ‘a couple dates’ with ex Jay Cutler after their divorce

Kristin Cavallari revealed that she and ex Jay Cutler attempted to rekindle their romance following their divorce.

The Hills star, 37, revealed the pair ‘went on a couple of dates’ after their split in 2022 ‘trying to see’ if they could make it work again during her appearance on the Bunnie XO’s Dumb Blonde podcast.

Cavallari — who also branded the former NFL star, 41, a ‘pathological liar’ on the podcast — went on to call their relationship a ‘trauma bond.’

‘Because, man, it’s f*****g hard. And then I think — unless you’ve gone through this, especially with a toxic marriage, it’s like, it has this hold on you… It’s a f*****g trauma bond.’

‘And until you can really break that, I would go back [to Cutler] a couple times and be like, “I know it’s not right, but, like, why am I doing it?”‘

Eventually Cavallari said that for the ’18th millionth time I was like, “I can’t do this,”‘ before she finally cut it off for good. ‘Then I really did the work,’ she added.

Cavallari — who also revealed she is dating someone new — also said that being with Cutler was like ‘marrying my dad’ because she ‘hadn’t done the work on my relationship with my dad.’

Speaking of her dad Dennis Cavallari, she shared: ‘So, the thing is, I was repeating a pattern with my dad. And because I hadn’t done the work on my relationship with my dad — that’s what you do, you know? I ended up marrying my dad.’

‘And so, it really forced me then to work through my s**t, which is which is what I did.’

Following their divorce, Cavallari said she has ‘really taken the time to get my s**t together’ in order to stop ‘repeating that pattern’ in a future relationship.

‘Things were just never good and we tried, we really did… We really did everything that we could.’

‘I was a f*****g baby, I didn’t know any better,’ she added, referring to the fact that she was just 23 when she started dating the athlete, who was 27. ‘We were both young.’

Elsewhere on the podcast she branded him a ‘pathological liar’ and said he brought ‘zero f*****g consistency’ to their relationship when they were together.

The former reality star shares three children with Jay – sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, nine – and has been co-parenting with him since they split in April 2020 after seven years of marriage (with their divorce finalized in June 2022).

During her appearance on the podcast, Kristin called their co-parenting relationship ‘so up and down’ and their relationship post-divorce a ‘bumpy road.’

Kristin even addressed the rumored affair he had with her ex-friend Kelly Henderson while they were still married, revealing that it may have happened.

The star — who recently discussed her spicy romance with Morgan Wallen — also called their romance ‘toxic,’ something which she has previously said in 2022.

She said that while Jay – who was arrested in October for an alleged DUI in Tennessee – never apologized to her about certain things that happened during their marriage, she can still forgive him and have empathy toward the former football star.

Kristin spoke about the alleged affair between Jay and Kelly – who was also her Very Cavallari co-star – while he was still married to Kristin.

‘I really don’t think anything happened,’ she said on the podcast.

However, she appeared to backtrack and question if anything did happen between them.

‘I really don’t think anything happened. F**k I don’t know how to be honest with you. Do I know for sure? No.’

Adding that he ‘used to trash her’ – meaning talk badly about her, which she says could mean that something was going on between the two.

‘Jay used to trash her which I sort of think if a guy is trashing a girl, there is probably something going on,’ Kristin explained.

The mother of three said that divorce was something she never wanted, due to coming from parents who were divorced.

Kristin said it was ‘the last thing I ever wanted,’ when speaking of divorce.

‘That still will creep up once in a while… it just sucks that we’re not together as a family.’

While she doesn’t ‘regret a damn thing’ she did call their relationship ‘toxic.’

‘When you’re dealing with a pathological liar, it’s hard to know what the f*****g truth is,’ the businesswoman said.

Adding: ‘People who are lying to you or are cheating, that’s because they’re hurt. That’s about them. That has nothing to do with me,’ she noted.

Cavallari also revealed she’s dating someone new – specifically a retired athlete who is 40 years old and has children 

The former couple sat together at their son’s basketball game this year, which was something she still can’t believe happened.

‘We sat together at a basketball game earlier in the year, and I was like, “Holy f**k this is the best thing that’s ever happened. Jesus Christ we made it,’ she said.

‘We can sit next to each other. And we haven’t sat together since, so I don’t f*****g know. What the f**k.’

Cavallari also revealed she’s dating someone new – specifically a retired athlete who is 40 years old and has children.

She said the two of them ‘connect on so many different levels’ but insists that it’s a ‘really new’ relationship.

Kristin’s new relationship comes three months after she split from boyfriend Mark Estes, 24, due to their age gap and life experience differences.
