Glamorgan have named all-rounder Kiran Carlson as club captain for 2026.

The 27-year-old succeeds Sam Northeast and will lead Glamorgan as they play in the top flight of the County Championship for the first time in 21 years.

Carlson has led the Welsh county’s limited-overs teams for four years, including two One-Day Cup triumphs, while Northeast – who has returned to Kent – led Glamorgan’s first-class side as they finished second in Division Two last season.

Glamorgan say Carlson, who rose through the county’s ranks, has “grown into a key figure within the squad, combining consistent performances with strong leadership qualities”.

Carlson said he was “extremely honoured and privileged” to take the role.

He added: “I’ve grown up around some amazing captains and to be a Welsh boy captaining Glamorgan is a real honour.
