“The club are in a really exciting period and as captain I can’t wait to see how far we can get to as a club in all formats. There isn’t another club I’d want to play for more than here.”

Carlson’s Glamorgan career has not been all smooth sailing, with a loss of form in 2019 and 2020, but a resurgent 2021 season was capped off as he led the side to One-Day Cup victory – a first trophy for the club since 2004.

Asked to also take the reins of the four-day side this season – a first campaign back in Division One for 21 years – following the departure of Sam Northeast, Carlson has continued to lead from the front

Carlson’s innings this season include a career-best 209 against Hampshire, as Glamorgan have started brightly to sit third in the table after the first block of Championship games thanks to two wins and three draws from six matches.

Director of cricket Mark Wallace added: “Kiran is central to our long‑term vision, both as a player and as a leader. His commitment, professionalism, and passion for Glamorgan are evident every day, and securing his future is a significant moment for the club.

“We’re thrilled he will continue to play a major role in shaping the next phase of our journey.”
