King Charles and senior royals marked a milestone birthday at Windsor Castle on Wednesday evening.

The royal residence was the setting for the celebration as King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a reception honouring the Duke of Kent’s 90th birthday.

The gathering brought together numerous senior members of the Royal Family to mark this significant milestone for Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin.

The Duke, also known as Prince Edward, reached his 90th year this month, prompting the special event at the monarch’s Berkshire residence.

According to official court records, the reception represented a formal acknowledgement of the Duke’s long service and his position within the Royal Family.

Among those attending were the Duke’s brother, Prince Michael of Kent and sister Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy.

The Duke of Edinburgh joined the celebration alongside Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, with the Duke of Gloucester also present.

The Duchess of Edinburgh could not attend as she had a prior commitment at the Country Land and Business Association Reception in London that same evening.

The Duke’s actual birthday was October 9, when members of the Royal Family marked the occasion with social media tributes.

The Royal Family’s official accounts posted birthday wishes alongside a previously unreleased photograph showing the Duke greeting King Charles at Buckingham Palace during the Coronation ceremony.
