King Charles III has reached his highest-ever approval rating as he approaches the fourth anniversary of his accession, according to the latest YouGov royal family tracker data.

68 per cent of the British public now consider the monarch to be performing well in the role, a figure that has risen six points since the spring.

The proportion who believe he is doing badly has fallen by four points, to just 16 per cent — roughly one in six adults.

The findings suggest a sustained period of public goodwill towards King Charles, whose personal favourability rating has held steady between 59 per cent and 63 per cent over the past two years, with 62 per cent currently viewing him positively against 31 per cent who hold an unfavourable opinion.

William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, continue to occupy the top spot among senior royals, with roughly three-quarters of the public — between 74 per cent and 76 per cent — regarding them favourably.

These figures have remained largely static in recent years.

Princess Anne commands similarly robust support, with 70 per cent of Britons expressing a positive view of the Princess Royal.

Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, also enjoy warm public sentiment, with 51 per cent to 53 per cent holding favourable opinions of the couple and negative views limited to just 18 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.

Queen Camilla, however, remains a polarising figure.

Opinion on the King’s consort is essentially split down the middle, with 43 per cent viewing her positively and 44 per cent taking an unfavourable view.

When the data is broken down by political allegiance, Conservative voters emerge as the King’s most ardent supporters, with nine in ten of those who voted Tory in 2024 rating his performance positively.

Liberal Democrat backers follow at 78 per cent, with Labour voters close behind on 72 per cent.

By contrast, those who supported Reform UK at the last general election are markedly less enthusiastic, with only 57 per cent to 58 per cent approving of Charles’s tenure — a figure matched by Green voters.

More striking still is the level of active dissatisfaction among Reform UK supporters.

35 per cent of Reform voters say the King is performing poorly, a proportion considerably higher than among any other party’s electorate, where disapproval peaks at no more than 21 per cent.
