King Charles is aiming to contain Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor by moving him to the Sandringham Estate, a palace source has claimed.

Andrew was finally ousted from Royal Lodge last week after he was served notice on the Grade II mansion in October last year.

He is believed to have been moved to Wood Farm while renovations are completed at Marsh Farm, which is expected to be his new long-term residence.

A Palace source said told the Times: “The King feels he has no other option than to provide for his brother, who will be privately funded on a private estate. Every time he’s tried to support himself by independent means, it has led to greater trouble.”

“Containing him is the hope.”

Andrew was thrust back into the spotlight with the latest batch of the Epstein files that were released by the US Department of Justice last week.

The former Duke of York features prominently within the three million files; it is understood that the renewed scrutiny did not prompt the removal from Royal Lodge.

The move had been planned since October 2025, although it was not expected to happen quite this soon.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on whether the earlier-than-planned move was in response to the latest release of Epstein files.

Last week, it was reported by The Sun that royal staff had been told that they were not required to continue working for the disgraced former Duke of York if they felt uncomfortable doing so.

Following the removal of Andrew’s titles, the King pledged to pay for his younger brother for the foreseeable future.

Sources also claimed that any speculation regarding Andrew was “sitting on a large source of funds from his late mother or the sale of former homes is wide of the mark.”

Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe believes: “I think the King will pay what needs to be paid and will fund his brother, in a way, he’s kind of got no choice.

“Andrew can’t end up homeless and on the streets, much as the public might like that to happen.

“But what can Andrew do? He can’t get a job somewhere. He can’t deliver parcels to make ends meet.

“He’s sort of stuck so King Charles will still financially support him, but what that will look like, who knows,” he added.

He continued: “Andrew really is the pariah Prince and he’s a problem to his family.”

“He hasn’t been convicted in a court of law, but he has been found guilty in the court of public opinion, and I think with the latest tranche of emails, it definitely just stinks, it’s rotten, you know.”
