Take That have been confirmed as performers at The Earthshot Prize 2026 Awards Night, set to take place in Mumbai on November 17. The appearance will represent a landmark moment for Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, as the trio have never previously played a concert in India.

Prince William’s flagship environmental award ceremony is being billed as its most ambitious edition to date, with the British pop group joining a stellar roster of global names from the worlds of music, cinema and sport.

The event, sponsored by the Serum Institute of India, will welcome 5,000 distinguished guests to Mumbai for what organisers describe as a historic celebration of environmental leadership.

The Mumbai performance comes just three days before the release of Dreamers, the band’s tenth studio album, which is due out on November 20.

In a statement, Take That said: “We’ve been lucky enough to perform in some incredible places around the world over the past 35 years, but India is somewhere we’ve always dreamed of bringing our music. To be performing here for the very first time, after all these years, and alongside the extraordinary people creating a better future for our planet – is really special.”

The group added: “As we’ve seen the world over, music has an exquisite way of bringing people together, and we can’t wait to share that magic with The Earthshot Prize and the world from Mumbai. We’re ready for a night we’ll never forget.”

Shashwat Sachdev, the acclaimed Indian composer and two-time national award winner, will close the show with what is being described as a spectacular finale.

His body of work includes the Bollywood hit Dhurandhar and its 2026 follow-up, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, as well as a collaboration with Hans Zimmer on the theme music for the BBC series Virdee.

Mr Sachdev will draw on his catalogue Shades of Cashmere for the performance. He said: “I’ll be performing music from my catalogue, Shades of Cashmere, at The Earthshot Prize. This music carries so much of the country I come from, and it means a great deal to share it on this stage.”

He added: “I hope people feel the beauty of our land through what they hear, wherever in the world they call home.”

The ceremony’s guest list features cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, Oscar winner Rami Malek, acclaimed singer Shreya Ghoshal, actress Sonam Kapoor and Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley.

Celebrated Indian filmmaker Karan Johar will host proceedings, while Earthshot Ambassadors Robert Irwin and Nomzamo Mbatha will also be present.

Jason Knauf, chief executive of The Earthshot Prize, said: “This year in Mumbai, we’re telling the biggest story in the world. It’s a story of the immense challenges facing our planet, but also the amazing progress that extraordinary people scientists, innovators, activists and leaders can make possible.”

He described the 2026 ceremony as the “biggest and best Earthshot Prize Awards Night yet,” expressing delight at having “music legends, Take That” on board to celebrate those advancing the organisation’s mission.

For the first time in the award’s history, the ceremony will be streamed globally via Prime Video, reaching audiences in more than 240 countries and territories and in over 40 languages.

Prime Video serves as both the exclusive streaming partner and a Founding Partner of The Earthshot Prize.

This year’s competition features 15 finalists whose work spans indigenous and community knowledge, corporate innovation and AI-driven climate technology.

Five winners will be announced on the night, one in each of the prize’s categories: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate.

Each winner will receive £1million to help advance or expand their environmental solutions, reinforcing the Earthshot Prize’s position as the world’s leading environmental award.
