A former senior adviser to Donald Trump has hit out at Sir Keir Starmer’s lack of support for the US President’s operation in Iran, declaring it is “too little, too late”.

Speaking to GB News, Jason Miller said the Prime Minister’s lack of support for Mr Trump at a “critical, key moment” will impact the “special relationship” between the two nations.

In his latest attack on the Prime Minister, Donald Trump declared he is “not happy” with the UK and their handling of the Iran conflict, in particular his U-turn on allowing the US to use UK military bases.

He said: “That island that you read about the lease, for whatever reason, he made a lease of the island.

“Somebody came and took it away from him, and it’s taken three or four days for us to work out where we can land.

“There would have been much more convenient landing there as opposed to flying many extra hours, so we are very surprised. This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with.”

Reacting to the remarks, Mr Miller told GB News host Bev Turner that the “great thing” about Mr Trump is you “know exactly what he’s thinking at all times because he will say it”.

He said: “The US and the UK are supposed to have the special relationship in a moment, a very critical key moment when the US needed the UK, Keir Starmer made sure that the UK was not there for the US.

“That’s why you saw the President say what he did, some pretty tough words for Keir Starmer.”

Noting Sir Keir’s U-turn on allowing the US to use UK bases for their operation, the ex-Trump aide declared that in “some aspects” it is “too little, too late” from the Prime Minister.

Mr Miller made clear: “We know that the UK has now allowed their bases to be used for some of the efforts, but in certain respects, it’s a little too little, a little too late.

“There was a moment when the US really needed the UK, and once you do that, in President Trump’s eyes, it’s really tough to put that toothpaste back in the tube.”

Predicting that Sir Keir will face more problems domestically, Mr Miller argued that the Prime Minister will have “even bigger problems at home” because the “exact same terrorists being funded by Iran that were killing Americans were the exact same terrorists being funded by Iran that were killing Brits in the UK”.

Criticising the lack of “unity” by Sir Keir, Mr Miller told GB News: “When President Trump made the move to go cut the head off the terrorist snake, when the decision was made that they have to be removed, otherwise they’re going to continue pushing for nuclear weapons there, to continue funding proxy groups that such as Hezbollah and Hamas and the Houthis, that they had to go and remove them.

“And the fact that the UK with Starmer wouldn’t back up the United States in this, we’re really sent the sign that we weren’t united, that we weren’t together on this front to rid the world of terrorism.

“That’s where I think Starmer’s going to have the problem is answering folks in the UK looking at them in the eye and say here’s why I was not committed to stopping terrorism.”

Questioned by host Bev Turner on whether he believes the President will “apologise” to Sir Keir for his latest remarks, Mr Miller admitted there is “zero chance” of that happening.

Mr Miller said: “There’s probably a zero per cent chance of that. And I think that, quite frankly, Prime Minister Starmer owes President Trump a very, very big apology.

“And even then, I don’t know if President Trump would even take the phone call right now.”

He concluded: “Of course, I can’t formally speak on the president’s behalf, but that was a critical moment when we needed the UK.

“And again, I don’t think that Keir Starmer really represents all of the UK because I think most people would say yes, the US is that special relationship and we need to be there for.”
