Katy Perry gushes about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour years after ending bitter feud

There’s no bad blood between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, 35, anymore. 

The Teenage Dream singer, 40, gushed about Swift’s concert in Sydney and their interaction there.

‘I actually went and did a show in Australia very quickly and I had one day off before the show and I was like, “Hey girl, I’m gonna come to the show,”‘Perry told U.K. radio station Capital in a video posted on TikTok.

‘And [Swift] was so excited and I was so excited,’ she added while holding up a photo of them at the concert in February 2024.

She called the Shake It Off singer’s fans as ‘an adorable sweet community’ as she also talked about swapping friendship bracelets with Swifties at the concert.

‘People gave me bracelets and I think Rita [Ora] gave me a bracelet,’ she said. ‘I loved it. It’s just like a community, it’s an adorable sweet community.’

Perry added of Swift, ‘I got to see her and we got to catch up and I love her so much.’

After the concert, Perry shared a selection of images and videos on Instagram.

‘Got to see an old friend shine tonight ♥️✨,’ the Woman’s World singer wrote in the caption.

The reunion comes years after the two pop stars had one of the most bitter feuds in music.

In December 2013, Lockhard Brownlie and two other dancers left Taylor’s Red Tour to dance for Katy’s Prismatic Tour. 

‘We were with Katy for two and a half years, she’s like family to us, so we were like, “Absolutely,”‘ he explained in an interview at the time. ‘We weren’t really dancing in Taylor’s tour anyway, so I had gotten a little bored.’

In September 2014, Taylor gave an interview to Rolling Stone upon the release of 1989. She talked about the meaning behind her song Bad Blood.

‘For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, “Are we friends or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?”

‘Then she did something so horrible. I was like, “Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.” And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business,’ the Bejeweled singer said.

‘She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me,’ she continued. ‘And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.’

In response, Katy tweeted, ‘Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing,’ referring to the character from Mean Girls. 

In March 2015, Taylor told The Telegraph she will never speak about Katy.

‘I’m not giving them anything to write about,’ she declared. ‘I’m never going to talk about her in my interview. It’s not going to happen.’

After the release of Swift’s Bad Blood video, Katy tweeted, ‘Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…’

Katy then released Swish Swish, which is presumably about Taylor with the lyrics ‘Don’t you come for me’ and ‘Your game is tired, you should retire.’

In June 2017, Katy addressed the feud in an interview with NME.

‘I mean, I’m not Buddha—things irritate me. I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]. That’s so messed up!’ 

The next day, on the same day that Katy released Witness, Taylor released her entire catalogue on Spotify after years of speaking out against the streaming service. 

On June 11, 2017, Katy said, ‘I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her. I think it’s actually like, I think it’s time. There are bigger fish to fry and there are real problems in the world. You know what I’m saying,’ during an interview with the Thrive podcast.

The next day, she changed the lyrics in Swish Swish from Don’t you come for me, oh, not today to God bless you on your journey, oh, baby girl.’

But Taylor didn’t interact with Katy or press about their feud for another full year.

In May 2018, Katy send Taylor a literal olive branch for the opening night of her Reputation World Tour.

‘Thank you, Katy,’ Taylor said in an Instagram post with a photo of the gift. You can see Katy also sent a note with ‘miscommunications’ and ‘deeply sorry’ written on it. 

And with that the hatchet was buried and Katy appeared in Taylor’s music video for You Need to Calm Down,’ as the hamburger to Taylor’s french fries.
