Katie Price has prompted renewed health fears after confessing to a vaping addiction on social media, posting a disturbing X-ray image of a damaged lung.

The 47-year-old former glamour model shared the image on her Instagram Stories alongside a warning that vaping has been officially connected to rare and permanent lung disease.

“I have to stop,” the mother-of-five wrote in her caption. The image was part of a post shared by a separate user, Ashem Alghali, who had published the warning.

The admission is said to have left her relatives deeply anxious, particularly given the family’s history of respiratory illness.

A source told The Mirror: “Katie needs to stop for health reasons and, obviously, her family members have been very worried.”

Her mother, Amy, 73, has spent years fighting terminal Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and received a lung transplant in 2022.

The condition, known as IPF, causes progressive scarring of the lungs and makes breathing increasingly difficult over time.

Amy’s illness has at times required her to use a wheelchair, and she now needs to carry oxygen with her.

Speaking on The Katie Price Show earlier this year, Ms Price described how her mother’s independence has been stripped away by the disease.

“She can’t do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her,” Ms Price said.

This family history makes her continued vaping habit especially troubling for those closest to her.

A source revealed: “She’s worried because of what happened to her mum – her mum is so ill and has to carry around oxygen.”

Her partner, JJ Slater, a former Married At First Sight contestant who has been with Ms Price for nearly two years, is reportedly deeply troubled by her habit but feels unable to intervene.

“JJ is concerned about her, but there’s only so much he can do,” the source claimed.

“Katie’s under severe stress and just has one thing after another to contend with. He really does love her, but she has got her own mind and sadly, with the vaping, it has become a real habit for her.”

The insider added that stress drives Ms Price towards vaping and that she possesses an addictive personality.

If she were to follow through with her social media pledge, this would not be her first attempt at quitting.

She previously vowed to stop a couple of years ago, even speculating that the habit had caused one of her teeth to fall out.

“I am going to stop it because I don’t know why I do it,” she declared on her podcast. “It’s this new, social thing where everyone vapes. I don’t normally like to be a follower, I am usually a leader.”

Ms Price’s vaping has repeatedly sparked controversy, including being filmed using an e-cigarette on a train in November 2024, despite the practice being prohibited on most rail networks.

In March this year, she drew criticism after being photographed vaping near her four-month-old niece Olive.

Her sister Sophie, who co-hosts The Katie Price Show, pleaded with her during a 2023 episode: “Can you stop vaping please?”
