Katie was just 24 in March 2008 when her ex Daniel Lynch, 47, plotted the vicious ambush that left her face severely burned and in need of 400 operations.
She has come a long way since her trauma and has bravely rebuilt her life – now a campaigner for other victims, she has been awarded an OBE for charity and burns services.
But her attacker Stefan Sylvestre, who was ordered to carry out the assault by Daniel is still on the run after fleeing the country following his prison release.
Daniel was jailed for life in 2009 for organising the act of ‘pure, calculated and deliberate evil’.
He was sentenced to life at London’s Wood Green Crown Court after being found guilty of rape and GBH and admitting ABH.

At the end of 2023, Katie shared a health update with her concerned fans after she underwent surgery to help save her left eye.
In an emotional Instagram video, the TV presenter revealed that her recovery wasn’t progressing as hoped, saying: ‘I’ve spent the morning back at the eye clinic as I’ve got problems with my eye.’
She added: ‘I’ve got a defect and an infection that is becoming really hard to treat.’
Around the same time, Katie opened up to her fans admitting it was ‘mentally hard’ for her to undergo more surgeries and continue life with the injuries she sustained in the acid attack in 2008.
The presenter suffered major injuries and blindness in one eye after being attacked with acid by her ex-boyfriend and an accomplice 15 years ago.
