The Princess of Wales has written a moving message in advance of her yearly Together at Christmas Carol Service, scheduled for Westminster Abbey this Friday, December 5th.

The correspondence will be distributed to attendees at the main Westminster Abbey event and across fifteen additional community carol services taking place throughout the United Kingdom.

In her message, Kate addresses guests directly, expressing gratitude for their participation in the festive gathering.

The royal’s words focus on how the Christmas period embodies love through modest, human actions rather than elaborate displays.

She highlights how small gestures of kindness form part of a larger interconnected whole that binds communities together during the festive season.

The princess describes Christmas as a period that demonstrates love through “the simplest, most human ways. Not in sentimental or grand gestures, but gentle ones.”

Kate points to specific examples of these modest acts: “a moment of listening, a word of comfort, a friendly conversation, a helping hand, presence.”

The royal also emphasises that the festive period serves as a reminder of the profound interconnection between people’s lives.

The Princess of Wales draws a parallel between human relationships and the natural world, noting how “the roots of trees share strength beneath the soil, unseen but vital, so too do we.”

She highlights people’s natural inclination towards connection and belonging.

Her message recognises that despite the busy nature of the festive period with its “rushing around and familiar traditions,” there exists more gentle aspects.

The princess notes that personal choices and acts of kindness create effects that extend beyond immediate circles, “touching lives we may never see.”

Kate positions the carol service as an opportunity for communal unity, describing it as “a moment of collective togetherness” that honours both apparent and hidden connections between people.

The royal acknowledges the impact of unrecognised acts of kindness in her message, stating that “the time, care and compassion you give, often quietly and unspoken, and without any expectation or recognition, make an extraordinary difference to the lives of others.”

As the year concludes, she expresses wishes for recipients to experience “moments of peace and clarity” and to “feel surrounded by the same love and care that you offer so freely.”

The princess concludes her letter by saying: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas.”
