The Princess of Wales is set to make her most significant return to public life at next month’s Bafta film awards, following her cancer treatment last year.
The star-studded ceremony will take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on February 16.
Bafta film committee chairman Anna Higgs has expressed she is “very hopeful” that Kate will accompany Prince William, the academy’s president, at the prestigious event.
The Princess completed her chemotherapy treatment in September, after revealing her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video message last March.

Since finishing treatment, Kate has maintained a limited public schedule, attending events such as Remembrance Sunday and her annual carol service at Westminster Abbey.
The Baftas would mark her first major red carpet appearance since her recovery began.
An insider revealed that Bafta is “throwing everything at securing” Kate’s presence, aware of the worldwide attention her appearance would bring.
“Bafta has close ties with William and Kate and is pulling out all the stops to try to secure Kate’s presence at this year’s awards,” the source told the Daily Mail.

The insider added: “It sent her warmest wishes when she revealed her cancer diagnosis and hopes she will appear alongside William in what will be her big showbiz return since she’s been in recovery.”
The source noted that the royal couple traditionally watch the nominated films beforehand.
“We have been told that she wouldn’t want to miss it, so she’s hoping to be there with William,” the insider said.
Bafta officials have indicated they will make any necessary accommodations, with the source stating: “Anything Bafta can do to work around Kate, it will do.”
Kate first attended the Baftas in 2017, marking the beginning of her regular appearances at the prestigious ceremony.

The Princess has only missed a few ceremonies since then, including in 2021 shortly before Prince Philip’s death, and in 2022 due to diary constraints.
Her last appearance at the awards was in 2023, when the ceremony paid tribute to the late Queen.
In 2018, Kate made headlines by attending while heavily pregnant with Prince Louis, who was born two months later.
At her most recent appearance in 2023, she wore a one-shoulder Alexander McQueen gown, featuring a shoulder drape finished with a bow and black opera gloves.
Prince William has served as Bafta’s President since 2010, overseeing the organisation’s mission to support talented professionals in film, games, and TV.
