Princess Kate looked stunning on Thursday during a visit to the Anna Freud Centre in London, with a fashion commentator suggesting she made a “subtle update” to her outfit choice.

The Princess of Wales wore a bespoke Emilia Wickstead dress in a houndstooth pattern, which she paired with Huge Boss leather heels.

The 43-year-old previously wore the unique dress during a trip to Boston with Prince William in 2022.

However, the mother-of-three appeared to have altered the design by adding a larger belt.

In addition, Kate carried a Demellier leather tote bag whilst wearing diamond and sapphire drop earrings.

Following the Princess’s outing, fashion expert Lauren Bulla spoke exclusively to GB News about her outfit, suggesting that Kate made a “subtle update”.

She said: “For this look, Kate has taken the classic houndstooth pattern – seen everywhere from high-street brands to luxury fashion houses – and given it a subtle update by opting for navy blue instead of the traditional black and white.

“The colour choice pairs beautifully with the matching belt, which adds a touch of three-dimensional interest at the waist without creating unnecessary busyness or detracting from the elegance of the pattern.

“The neckline is especially striking: it sits close to the neck but features these slightly exaggerated, pointed shirt-collar details that lend a faintly masculine edge, reminiscent of a dress shirt buttoned to the top.

“The gentle flare at the hem provides a lovely sense of balance against the more fitted silhouette through the bodice and sleeves.”

Speaking on behalf of OLBG, Ms Bulla added: “She’s styled the dress with pointed greyish-blue heels, which reinforce the feminine touch we often see in her public ensembles while also nodding to trends that surged in popularity in 2024 and 2025.

“The pointed-toe silhouette has made a strong comeback across boots, shoes, and heels alike, and – as she often does – Kate manages to blend current trends with her own consistent personal style wonderfully.

“The brown suede bag follows the same principle.

“Brown has re-established itself in many wardrobes this year as a classic staple, especially this season, and the bag’s slightly shiny buckle adds just enough visual interest without overwhelming the outfit.

“Its smaller but still functional size is also very on trend, aligning with the current preference for compact, practical accessories.”

Ms Bulla concluded: “All in all, it’s a quintessentially Kate ensemble. It is timeless, and elegant, but infused with her signature sense of personal flair.”

Fans loved Kate’s outfit, taking to social media to praise the repeated look.

One wrote on X: “The dress is a knockout in every way — from the houndstooth pattern and belt — and then the lovely shoes and bag. The earrings make this a gem of an outfit.”

Another said: “I absolutely adore checks in black or blue, be they gingham or houndstooth. Timeless and classic!”

Finally, someone commented: “Omg the shoes! I wish I could wear heels! Just gorgeous.”
