Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova is set to be sidelined for a “few weeks” after having a “small surgery”.

The 29-year-old lost to Czech compatriot Linda Noskova in an extraordinary and dramatic three-set final at the All England Club earlier this month.

Muchova, who has dealt with a number of wrist injuries throughout her career, did not specify what the current problem was, nor the exact timeframe for a return.

She confirmed she will miss the Canadian Open in Toronto, which starts on 1 August, but was working on her recovery, with the US Open taking place from 23 August.

“I had to undergo a small surgery that will keep me off the court for a few weeks,” said Muchova.

“Everything went well, and I’m already working on my recovery. Sad to be missing Toronto this year. I was really looking forward to making my debut there, but recovery comes first.”

Muchova, who is ranked sixth in the world, suffered her second Grand Slam final defeat at Wimbledon, having also lost the 2023 French Open final to Iga Swiatek.
