Salford City boss Karl Robinson said that missing out on automatic promotion and having to settle for the League Two play-offs does not change the fact that his side have had a “very good season”.

The Ammies fell short of a top-three finish having played out a goalless draw with Crawley Town on the final day of the season, meaning Cambridge United finished third.

Robinson’s side are taking some impressive form into the post-season, however, having lost just once in their final 14 games of the regular campaign.

“You know what football is like, you don’t always get what you actually deserve,” he told Radio Manchester.

“When you take things out of your own control and leave it to somebody else, we can accept that. We firmly believe that we have had a very good season.”
