Actors in the hit TV adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s novel Rivals described her as “impish and joyous” when she appeared on set during filming.
She made a surprise cameo appearance in the series last year.
Dame Jilly, known for her best-selling books including Rivals and Riders, has died at the age of 88.
Follow-up Rivals was published in 1988 and reached a new generation of fans last year when it was turned into a hit Disney+ TV series.
