Terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie was on police bail when he carried out the Manchester synagogue attack, GB News understands.

Sources said Al-Shamie was on bail for an alleged rape.

Al-Shamie’s terrorist attack led to the deaths of two men and injuries to three others.

Police shot and killed Al-Shamie at the scene, with him appearing to have a bomb strapped to him, but the force later confirmed that no viable explosive was found.

The Syrian-born British citizen is believed to have other criminal convictions, but was not on the radar of counter-terrorism officers at the time of the incident.

Al-Shamie rammed his car into people entering the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Judaism’s holiest day of the year, Yom Kippur.

He then stabbed several worshippers before armed police shot him dead within seven minutes of arriving.

The terrorist allegedly shouted “this is what they get for killing our children”, as he tried to get to more people.

Alan Levy, the synagogue’s chairman of trustees, told ITV News: “All I heard him say was when the guys were outside the perimeter and were shouting at him.

“He shouted: ‘This is what you get for killing our children’.

“It’s just truly horrific. The attacks against our community. Our children aren’t safe in schools; we have to have guards.

“Our people are not safe at the synagogue going to pray on the holiest day of our year.”

It is understood that Al-Shamie entered the UK from Syria, and was granted British citizenship in 2006 as a minor.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed earlier today that two victims were hit by bullets as they stopped Al-Shamie from entering the synagogue.

GB News can reveal that the terrorist’s father praised the October 7 Hamas terrorists as “Allah’s men on earth” on the day of the massacre.

Faraj Al-Shamie said: “May God protect Palestine and its heroic people”, after Hamas launched its deadly raid that killed over 1,200 people.

He also described Israel as a “terrorist state” on his Facebook profile, where he has made regular posts on the civil war in Syria and the Israel-Hamas war.

Mr Al-Shamie said in his post on October 7 that the attack by the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades” had “proved beyond a shadow of a doubt” that Israel would “not remain”.

Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz were killed in the terrorist attack, with Mr Daulby’s family paying tribute.

They said: “Adrian Daulby was a hero and tragically lost his life in the act of courage to save others.

“He was a beloved brother, loving uncle to his four nieces and one nephew and a cherished cousin.

“The family is shocked by the tragic, sudden death of such a lovely down to earth man. His final act was one of profound courage, and he will forever be remembered for his heroic act on Thursday, October 2, 2025.”
