The Chase was branded “a shambles” after a recent episode aired, thanks to a series of bizarre questions that left players and quizzers stumped.

A recent instalment of the ITV game show hosted by Bradley Walsh aired recently, and saw contestants and Chasers contending with a string of perplexing questions.

One of the questions asked was: “The Rosetta Stone is inscribed with a decree on behalf of which Egyptian pharaoh?”

The options for answers were Rameses II, Ptolemy V, and Thutmose III, leaving brainbox Sinha baffled as both men answered incorrectly.

The quizzing expert went on to admit: “That was the hardest question I’ve ever seen on this show.”

Next, the pair was asked: “The US Department of Agriculture requires what to be at least 35 per cent cooked meat and no more than 50 per cent bread?”

Paul Sinha described one question as ‘the hardest he has had on the show’

The options were pizza, kebabs, and sandwiches, with the latter being the correct answer, leaving many shocked.

Walsh quipped: “Is this a wind-up? I’ll have to call the sandwich police. Don’t move, get on the floor.”

Sinha had opted for kebabs, detailing he believed it was “the only logical answer”.

Thankfully for Mark, he was able to rejoin his team with his £6,000, but fans soon took to social media to express their bewilderment over the questions.

One asked: “Who is in charge of these bizarre questions on #thechase???? Absolute shambles, is it a kid on work experience? Are the regular question setters off on Holibobs? Yikes, that was grim.”

“Eh? A sandwich in the US MUST contain meat??! #thechase,” a second commented.

Someone else echoed: “So what’s a cheese sandwich then? Or a tuna one? #TheChase.” (sic)

Others also criticised Walsh for being “extra annoying” during the episode.

“Unedited banter usually means most of them are going home early. Also means we have to put up with Bradley’s dad jokes. Lose/ lose. #thechase,” one complained.

“Brad is extra f***ing annoying today #Thechase,” a second agreed.

Paul Sinha was equally surprised by the difficulty of the questions

“Get on with it brad. #TheChase,” another penned, while one more added: “All the prattling on and sleep inducing speed it can’t end well #thechase.” (sic)
