Two celebrities were sent packing from the Australian jungle on Friday evening’s I’m A Celebrity, with presenters Ant and Dec delivering the shock news to campmates, and viewers were left furious by the result.

Lisa Riley and Jack Osbourne learned their time in camp had come to an end after receiving the fewest public votes, departing the ITV show just 48 hours before Sunday’s grand final.

The Emmerdale actress and television personality were met with an outpouring of emotion from their fellow contestants, who appeared visibly stunned by the double departure.

Both stars had survived 21 days in the wilderness before their elimination, joining a growing list of departed campmates that already includes Alex Scott, Eddie Kadi, Vogue Williams, Kelly Brook, Ruby Wax and Martin Kemp.

The elimination sparked fury among viewers on social media, with many branding the programme a “fix” and questioning the legitimacy of the voting process.

One disgruntled fan wrote: “What a f***ing fix. No way Jack should have gone. Total joke. Next year please don’t fix who the winner is, it’s boring now.”

Another viewer declared they had finished with the series entirely, posting: “Officially done watching #ImACeleb this year. So over the Aitch & Ginge show.”

Several posts questioned who was actually casting votes, with one simply stating: “WTF #ImACeleb who is voting? This show is fixed.”

Others claimed the broadcaster had “lost half your viewers” over the two exits.

Another penned: “Gutted that @JackOsbourne and @Reallisariley were the two celebrities that left in tonight’s #ImACeleb wasn’t expecting it to be them, both should be extremely proud of how far they have both come.”

Another wrote: “#imaceleb I really really want Tom to win but I honestly don’t think he has a chance. Ginge or Aitch will definitely win.”

Others were pleased about the result though, with one adding: “Result! The 4 I wanted in the Cyclone!

“I want Tom to win (loved him for years) and Hubby wants Aitch to win, but we both want the other to come second.

“Aitch has it in the bag though after his sister’s visit, so sweet. Tom is still my number one though! #ImACeleb #imacelebrity.”

Speaking to Ant and Dec following his departure, Mr Osbourne reflected positively on his jungle experience despite the disappointment.

“I enjoyed connecting with people. I said before coming out here that I don’t have a lot of people in England so it is nice to come away with 11 new friends,” he explained.

Ms Riley described her stint as a “basket of bliss, every single second of it” and spoke movingly about her maternal role within the group.

“I’m not been lucky to be a mother in real life, so if I was considered the jungle mum, I feel like I’ve won already,” she added.

The series finale airs on Sunday evening, when viewers will crown this year’s King or Queen of the Jungle.
