Tom Read Wilson’s entrance into the I’m A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! jungle has sparked a wave of viewer scepticism over whether his extraordinarily refined speech patterns are genuine.

The Celebs Go Dating star arrived with Vogue Williams as a late addition to the camp, which immediately drew attention with his theatrical vocabulary and cut-glass accent. It was a delivery so polished it left both campmates and viewers questioning its authenticity.

During the star’s appearance on the show on Friday, social media erupted with speculation, with many viewers convinced he must be “faking” the elaborate speech for entertainment purposes.

Inside the camp, doubts surfaced almost instantly. Rapper Aitch believed Mr Wilson would “switch that [voice] off” once the cameras stopped rolling.

Speculation intensified on X, where users debated whether his refined pronunciation and expansive vocabulary were the product of genuine upbringing or a carefully crafted TV persona.

Some viewers insisted the accent was “too perfect” to be real, while others argued that Tom’s long history of consistent speech patterns across multiple programmes made the idea of fabrication unlikely.

“Tom’s a decent guy but sorry just for his overly exaggerated tone, he might need to be gone first: #ImACeleb,” one viewer penned online.

“Still refuse to believe that’s Toms real accent has to be putting it on #ImACeleb,” another insisted.

A third said: “Tom is so f****** irritating! There’s no way that’s not put on?”

Another joked that he “wanted to bash his head against a wall” every time the Celeb’s Go Dating star spoke.

However, others jumped to Mr Wilson’s defence.

One viewer wrote: “There was me thinking Tom was going to irritate me, but I’m really enjoying him. Feeling bad that I prejudged him because of his voice. #imacelebrity.”

“God I love him,” another added.

Within hours of his arrival, the controversy had made him one of the most discussed contestants of the series.

A review of Wilson’s television history shows remarkable consistency in his speaking patterns across nearly a decade of appearances.

Archive footage from his 2016 The Voice UK audition displays the same distinctive pronunciation and theatrical delivery now heard in the jungle.

The 39-year-olds tenure on Celebs Go Dating, where he served first as receptionist and later as senior client coordinator, further demonstrates unbroken consistency across hundreds of episodes.

Temporary confusion arose in 2019 when Wilson performed a flawless Essex accent during an appearance with TOWIE star James Argent, prompting some to believe he was secretly from Essex.

This was later revealed to be nothing more than an impression.

Furthermore, he has maintained his signature eloquence across all other broadcast appearances, including his popular TikTok series where he explains obscure words to followers.

Wilson has authored three books on language and etymology, including Every Word Tells A Story and Wonderful Words That Tell A Tale, reinforcing the idea that his love of language is sincere rather than theatrical.

His Instagram features daily vocabulary lessons introducing followers to words such as “obambulate” and “epistolary”, further supporting the authenticity of his speech patterns.
