While youthful looks can partly be credited to genetics, excellent lifestyle habits certainly play their part.
For 49-year-old Anna Shears, a skin and hair-boosting healthy ingredient is key to her age-defying glow.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, Anna said: “Last week I met up with some university friends from 30 years ago, who all voted me ‘least changed’ since we were 18. Very kind of them, I’ll take it!
“I also visited my husband’s work, and the new receptionist thought I was 34 – I told him to buy her a drink!”
Anna admitted that she has always looked young, often being denied entry to bars well after her 18th birthday.
However, her ageless appearance is not solely down to luck. As she approaches 50, there’s one ingredient Anna swears by to maintain her radiance.
Her “secret” is drinking aloe vera juice and using aloe vera-based skin care products.
“I have done since I was 40, when I dabbled in network marketing as a business owner with Forever Living Products, the Aloe Vera Company,” she stated.

Anna’s ‘secret’ to ageless beauty is aloe vera
Praising the plant’s benefits, Anna said: “I used to be a walking encyclopedia on all things aloe vera. It’s great for your hair, skin, nails, digestion, and immune function.
“It promotes skin healing and cell renewal with the reproduction of fibroblasts that make collagen.
“I’m sure there have been some studies about aloe and wound healing, and most people associate it with sunburn relief. It’s an ‘acquired’ taste though – I’ve got used to it after nine years of morning shots.”
As well as daily aloe vera use, Anna ensures she gets a good night’s sleep, and cooks most meals from fresh ingredients (aside from a Saturday-night takeaway). “I also drink at least two litres of water daily,” she concluded.
‘It’s great for your hair, skin, nails, digestion, and immune function’
The aloe vera plant offers numerous advantages for both skin and hair care, containing a remarkable array of nutrients despite being comprised of 98.5 per cent water.
This versatile plant provides at least 75 beneficial compounds, including antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, alongside B12, folic acid and choline.
Essential minerals include calcium, chromium, copper, selenium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium and zinc, complemented by amino acids and natural plant sugars.
The gel extracted from aloe vera leaves delivers an immediate cooling effect when applied topically, offering particular relief for minor sunburns.
Medical professionals highlight aloe vera’s particular benefits for those experiencing skin sensitivity and scalp issues.
“When the gel from within the plant’s leaves is applied, it has a cooling sensation that provides instant relief,” dermatologist Dr Derrick Phillips told Boots.
Aesthetic and skin doctor Dr Sophie Shotter added: “It contains fatty acids and amino acids, as well as being rich in vitamins A, B12, C and E, which contribute towards stronger hair and healthy follicles.”
Crucially, she cautioned that consumers should select products free from aggressive chemical additives to avoid potential skin reactions.
