Forward Ian Henderson has signed a new deal to remain with Rochdale beyond his 42nd birthday.

The veteran goalscorer, who will turn 42 in January, has played more than 500 times for the club across three spells, the first of which was on loan 13 years ago.

Henderson was instrumental in helping return the club to League Two, scoring eight goals in 31 National League appearances last season – including coming off the bench in their promotion play-off victory against Boreham Wood at Wembley.

“The opportunity came to sign again, and I took it with both hands,” Henderson, the club’s all-time leading scorer with 169 goals, told the club website., external

“I don’t feel ready to leave the game. I feel like I’ve got more to give to the squad this coming season.”
