Weight loss efforts at the gym can be slow to pay off, but sometimes, it takes a simple switch in approaches to see real results.

A fitness instructor has revealed how she dropped nearly three stone by completely changing her workout philosophy.

Gina Amin recently told her TikTok viewers how abandoning appearance-focused training in favour of performance goals helped her achieve her dream physique.

This shift in mindset, although very simple, saw the gym-goer lose almost 2st 12lb.

Gina had initially tailored every workout to sculpt her physique in a bid to feel confident in a bikini and achieve the body she’d always dreamed of.

“At the beginning, I was only training for aesthetics; I just wanted to look better,” she admitted.

“I wanted to feel more confident, and I wanted to be able to walk around in a bikini at the beach. But I have learned so much since four years.”

Despite her dedication and consistent effort, the results simply weren’t coming. But the turning point came when Amin decided to completely switch up her training strategy.

Instead of obsessing over her appearance, she began focusing on what her body could actually do – running faster, lifting heavier weights, and building serious endurance.

“If you stop training for aesthetics, stop thinking ‘when am I gonna get a six pack’ and start training to perform like a badass,” she shared.

In essence, Gina was concentrating on becoming stronger and more athletic, bringing the physical changes she’d been chasing for years.

The aesthetic results that had once been so elusive suddenly began appearing as a consequence of her new training style.

With hindsight, Amin admits she wishes she’d discovered this approach sooner.

“If I focused on just training to perform better, I feel like I would have got my results a lot faster, and that’s something I really do regret,” she said.

“If you train for performance, you will get the aesthetics; if you train for aesthetics, you’re going to find that it’s taking a lot of time,” she explained.

While lifting heavier weights and running faster can create the toned physique many people spend years chasing, it’s important to note there is no one-size-fits-all approach to weight loss.
