Sadiq Khan needs to “get out of his bubble” and speak to “real” Londoners about problems the city faces, according to Reform UK’s Andrea Jenkyns.

The Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire took a swipe at her London counterpart by claiming people “no longer feel safe” in the capital city, and it has happened under his watch.

Speaking on GB News, Jenkyns said she no longer feels safe when travelling through London at night.

“I studied economics and it depends how the statistics are measured. It’s easy to make things seem better than they are”, she said.

“Ask the people in London. I’ve got loads of friends in London and they don’t feel safe.

“When I’m in London at night, travelling back from the [GB News] studios, do I feel safe? No.

“I would say Sadiq Khan is living in his bubble and he needs to get out on the streets and talk to real people.”

The Mayor of London posted a graphic on X showing robbery, theft, residential burglary and knife crime are down in London.

He added “there’s still a long way to go before I’m satisfied”.

The figures, sourced by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, showed knife crime is 19 per cent down in the first quarter of 2025-2026 compared to 2024-2025.

Tom Harwood suggested Khan released the figures to coincide with Reform UK’s Westminster press conference about women’s safety.

Jenkyns and Sarah Pochin spoke to conference attendees about their experiences and concerns regarding safety issues affecting the country.

During her address, Jenkyns expressed that she no longer believes Britain provides the secure environment for children that she experienced during her own upbringing.

The MPs used the platform to highlight what they view as inadequate responses to security threats and to present their party’s proposed solutions to these challenges.

Their speeches touched on personal experiences with threats, immigration-related concerns, and policy proposals.

Jenkyns shared disturbing details about threats she has faced, revealing that vandals defaced her office with messages urging her to take her own life, yet authorities failed to identify the culprit.

She recounted receiving a barrage of 70 threatening messages within a single month, with senders warning her to purchase protective equipment and remain vigilant. Despite the severity, the perpetrator received merely a caution.

Most alarmingly, she described an incident where someone pursued one of her campaign workers whilst wielding a sledgehammer, an attack captured on film. The assailant avoided prosecution.

“I don’t feel safe, as a mother, I no longer feel our children live in the safe haven of Britain that I grew up in,” Jenkyns told the conference.

Pochin raised alarms about what she described as a continuous stream of arrivals to the UK who hold fundamentally different principles from British society.

She specifically highlighted concerns about individuals arriving from Afghanistan, suggesting their cultural attitudes towards women differ significantly from British values.

The MP claimed relevant statistics have been concealed from public view for an extended period.

These issues have prompted British citizens to organise community safety groups, according to Pochin, whilst mothers have staged demonstrations due to fears about their daughters’ wellbeing.

“We will stop the betrayal,” Pochin declared, referring to what she perceives as failures to protect women and children in Britain.

Pochin outlined Reform UK’s hardline stance on immigration enforcement, promising comprehensive deportation measures should the party form the next Government.

“We will deport every illegal immigrant that sets foot on our shores. We will deport all illegal immigrants housed in hotels in this country,” she pledged to delegates.

The MP’s commitments extended to tracking down those residing in shared accommodation across Britain.

“We will do everything we can to ensure those dispersed in HMOs are found and deported,” she stated.

Additionally, Pochin vowed to remove all foreign nationals currently serving prison sentences, ensuring they cannot remain in Britain following their release.
