A GB News star was left “annoyed” by Sir David Attenborough’s “unfair” call to keep cats indoors to protect local bird populations.

The British legend’s new show Secret Garden, which follows what happens during five different gardens across the nation, stressed the devastating impact of feline friends on their feathered prey.

Approximately, up to 55 million birds are killed every year by the 9.5 million domestic pets every year – but Sir David assured owners that bells on cats could cut their “hunting success by a third”.

But the GB News panel appeared perturbed by the suggestion.

“I don’t like this. I’m annoyed with David Attenborough. Which I do not like,” host Stephen Dixon shared.

Journalist Candice Holdsworth weighed in: “I mean, this advice has been around for a very long time, and I remember in New Zealand years ago, they actually didn’t even want people to to breed cats anymore because they said they were killing all the local tropical birds.

“I think, though, that they have shown that if you just put a bell on your cat, it can really bring down the amount of birds they kill by a third…

“Just a simple tweak like that, because I think that keeping them in at night really goes against their nature.”

But Stephen resisted the claim, adding that the move denies nature from playing out without interference.

“You say in the summer months you keep your cats indoors. Well, I’m sorry, that’s not fair,” he said. “It’s a perfectly natural thing.”
