GB News guest Clare Muldoon unleashed an explosive tirade on air this morning, as she blasted the disgraced former BBC presenter Huw Edwards after he changed his profile picture on Facebook.

The former BBC News host has faced criticism after he posed for a professional looking headshot, and sparked speculation of a return to the public eye.

Speaking furiously on The People’s Channel, Ms Muldoon said: “I didn’t think we’d be talking about him again this soon after he was convicted of having indecent photographs of children on his phone.

“But here we are, he’s put up a black-and-white smoochy picture on his Facebook page, he’s reactivated his Instagram account with 94,000 followers, and we’re hearing today from the Mail that he’s actually got a bit of support from ex-BBC journalists and producers he worked with, former colleagues of his.

“The arrogance of it. The absolute arrogance. The lack of insight. How must his victims and those families feel?

“How must his own family feel, his wife, his children? I think it’s just deplorable.

“I thought this was going to happen, to be honest with you, not only because of the sheer arrogance of which Huw Edwards is capable, but also because there were whispers around the property he had on the market, which he had to reduce in value.

“That’s now mysteriously been taken off the market. And that, for me, is just atrocious. I would hang my head in shame if I were him.”

The 64-year-old, who was convicted last year, refreshed his profile on Sunday with a polished black-and-white portrait in which he is donning a suit jacket, white stubble and a faint smile.

The update has fuelled speculation that the former star newsreader, who is still halfway through a two-year suspended sentence, could be testing the waters for a controversial comeback.

His choice to share the photo sparked anger from victims’ families, politicians, children’s charities and PR experts alike, who called the move “shameless” and deeply disrespectful to those he harmed.

The stepfather of the teenager Edwards groomed was one of the loudest voices condemning the Facebook post.

He told The Sun: “If he thinks he can just put up a picture of himself and it’s going to change the way people think about him, he’s wrong. He’s scum.

“You can paint over cracks but you can never hide them. He is finished, he’s a paedophile.

“Any time he raises his head it is an insult to his victims. He needs to realise this is it and disappear.”

PR expert Mark Borkowski warned that Edwards’ photographic display risked appearing insensitive and deliberately provocative.

He said: “A picture like this tells you he wants to be seen again. But one stylish photograph can’t rewrite the past. It risks looking tone-deaf, even provocative.”

Marilyn Hawes, founder of the charity Freedom from Abuse, condemned the post as a “disgrace” that exposed Edwards’ narcissistic tendencies.

She said: “It shows what a narcissist he is. He doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong. If he had any conscience he’d give his payout back.”

Others praised the ex-BBC presenter, despite the widespread criticism elsewhere.

“Miss your news reading mate,” one user wrote, while another said: “I hope you are keeping well Huw. Remember, you have so much talent to share.”

A third commented: “Some people never leave your heart and would love see you around again,” and another added: “Wow, looking really well Huw.”

Edwards pleaded guilty in July 2024 to accessing indecent photographs of children, having left the BBC on medical grounds months earlier.

Among the 41 images he admitted possessing, seven were classified as Category A, the most serious classification.
