A County Antrim gaelic footballer has admitted injuring a woman by careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

A woman in her 30s was hit by a van on the Glenravel Road in Martinstown on 26 October 2024.

Kavan Keenan’s trial was due to start in January 2026 after he previously pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The 26-year-old from Millfield in Ballymena changed his pleas during a re-arraignment at Antrim Crown Court on Monday.

He also admitted driving a van without insurance and failing to report an accident.

A plea and sentencing hearing has been listed for 6 February.

Mr Keenan plays for the Antrim county team and All Saints Gaelic Athletic Club.

Last year, he was named in the All-Ireland Tailteann Cup Team of the year.
