Jason Arday, the former Cambridge University professor, has been found dead.

He was found “unresponsive” at an address in Battersea, south London, this afternoon, the Telegraph reports.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the London Ambulance Service called them at 3.12pm on Friday.

He said: “Sadly, a 41-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

“At this time his death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious.

“The case is being investigated by officers from the Met’s Central South Command Unit. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

He was the University of Cambridge’s youngest ever black professor, stepping into the role in March 2023.

Mr Arday stepped down as a professor of sociology of education at the University of Cambridge on August 4, amid accusations of plagiarism.

The university announced they were launching an investigation into Mr Arday’s appointment last week, as well as his tenure at the educational institution.

He resigned within hours of the university announcing the investigation, pointing to “unrelenting level of public scrutiny”.

Born on May 9, 1985 to Ghanaian parents, Mr Arday was the third of four brothers, growing up in Clapham, south London.

His career was exclusively in academia, starting at Leeds Beckett University as a PE specialist in 2014, while working on his PhD.

Mr Arday cancelled events promoting his upcoming memoir, Great and Unfortunate Things, last week
