A stretch of the M60 has been closed due to flooding, causing rush-hour delays.

The anti-clockwise stretch of motorway between junctions 17 and 14 was already shut overnight for roadworks – but a burst pipe has delayed its reopening.

It was due to reopen at 05:00 GMT but National Highways said hold-ups of about 30 were expected while work continued to clear the issue.

Knock-on delays were also being caused to the M62 westbound.
